Vanderbilt Debate
Georgia Hamann

Georgia Hamann debated two years for Liberty University, and is currently more than halfway through the cruel labyrinth of law school. While at Liberty, Georgia and her partner won ADA Nationals in the Novice division as well as winning four of the six tournaments in which they competed at the novice level. Like many good novices, Georgia suffered a depressing devolution of skills her j.v. year, although she and her partner burned their j.v. eligibility by the end of January, winning three tournaments including the Naval Academy, at tournaments numbering 20 or more teams. No subsequent Liberty team has done this, though this may also be due to Liberty's de-emphasis on the j.v. circus. Georgia debated Open for the remainder of the year, though not spectacularly, and crashed/burned in the national tournaments in a way that WAS spectacular. She limped her way to a tearful goodbye to debating at CEDA Nats, breaking even at the tournament and winning her last neg round...ever. However, despite a life in debate that can only be described as mediocre, Georgia has parlayed her experiences into one hell of a resume, and can earnestly describe to potential employers how her "skill" will work for their firm. In addition to her actual debate record, Georgia developed a reputation for bad taste in men and good taste in liquor...two issues which have lead to immense awkwardness during encounters with Liberty coaches. If asked advice on any debate issue whatsoever, Georgia is programmed to respond only two ways: "Why don't we run politix?" and "Zizek says their performance is bogus."
