Club Activity and Membership

The VUFC is located at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. We teach students fencing as a modern competitive sport. We have fencers of many skill levels and experience and we hold introductory classes for new members with limited or no experience beginning every semester. The VUFC is open to all Vanderbilt students, faculty, and staff.

Events

We hold several tournaments during the year including the Cumberland, Music City, and Dean Richard Memorial Open .We also travel to tournaments throughout the year.

What is Fencing?

Fencing is an old and distinguished sport that dates back to 1160 B.C. It is one of only four sports to appear in every modern Olympics games and was held in the first Olympics as well. There are three different weapons in fencing: foil, epee, and saber.
