Alpha Epsilon Delta

November 10, 2009

"Alpha Epsilon Delta is the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in preprofessional health scholarship, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and others. The Society welcomes ALL students engaged in the pursuit of a professional healthcare career. AED offers opportunities for intellectual and professional development, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit the college/university community."

Simply put, AED is an organization for students that want to pursue a career in the health professions. We offer a variety of opportunities including speakers and representatives from schools, unique community service opportunities, medical student mentoring, shadowing, and a community of pre-med students at Vanderbilt.

The goal of the society is to prepare its members for medical school, with the hope that they will become better doctors because of their experiences with Alpha Epsilon Delta. There are some things that one just can't learn in a classroom.

AED is open to any Vanderbilt undergraduate student, but is obviously most beneficial to premedical, pre-dental, pre-nursing, and pre-vet students. The organization sponsors 5 general body meetings per semester, numerous volunteer opportunities, various information sessions, and much, much more.
