Crew is demanding and rewarding, unfortunately it requires a plethora of expensive equipment. For our needs, we get relatively little support from the University to fund the growing team. We rely on our own fundraising efforts and donations from families and alumni. This year we have made several new purchases including 4 new ergs to add to our steadily aging collection and we purchased a new launch boat and motor to accommodate the new members and coaches. With these tools, we facilitate individual coaching attention for each rower, which is so important as we approach our regatta season. Our needs are never ending as steadily aging boats and are always in need of costly repairs and as racing shell technology improves, we hope to be able to buy new boats to be able to remain competitive in collegiate racing.
