In the fall of 1975, a group of ambitious Vanderbilt students took an extra-long study break – the result of which was a Broadway revue troupe. They became known the world over as The Original Cast. When they began, this group of performers had no money, no musical director, no accompanist, and no choreographer.
However, there was never any intention of folding in the face of such trivial adversities. Through hard work and determination, The Original Cast stepped on stage the following spring, and opened its first show to an enthusiastic audience. Thirty-five years and sixty-seven shows later, the crowds are equally as supportive, enabling this entirely student-run organization to maintain its integral role in Vanderbilt's performing arts community |
