Vanderbilt Off-Broadway started out as an idea in the minds of three students in the 1996-1997 school year. One year later, their first show, Guys and Dolls, was performed. Ever since VOB has been producing one full-fledged, and entirely student run musical every spring.
Behind VOB are the executive board and the artistic board, each working in tandem to conceive, create, and produce the spring musical. Board members serve for one year, and are selected by the previous year's board.
It is inspiring how many individuals come together in all trades and talents, when it comes to making a Vanderbilt Off Broadway production a reality. It is an awesome feat achieved again and again, year after year. Created by Vandy students, for Vandy students, and run by Vandy students, VOB reaches near the top when it comes to the scope and authenticity of our productions. There is nothing else like it.
