Meeting at 7 pm in SLC Board of Trust

I. Welcome

  1. a. Call to Order, Attorney General Pruitt

II. Old Business, Attorney General Pruitt

  1. a. Open Floor for Vanderbilt Student Body

v  Students raise concerns or comment on issues that they would like addressed by the student government

  1. 1. Kenny Tan voiced his opinions regarding the future of VSG and commented on his resignation.

III. Presentation of Resolutions

  1. a. Resolution 11-12-44: Regarding Write-Ins and the Presidential Election

  1. Clarification that one must win 50% of the votes, not 50% of the student body.

  1. b. Resolution 11-12-45: Regarding Endorsements and Campaign Violations

Debate:

  1. Speaker Landis: Does not see any negatives in passing this resolution.  There is no harm in holding endorsees accountable to the same standards as candidates.
  2. Speaker McKittrick: By telling the candidates they are responsible for those who endorse them, we are preventing more violations.

  1. f. Resolution 11-12-49: Clarifying the Role of the Director of Programming

Technical Questions:

  1. Does this change the functionality of who is on the Exec Board?
    1. No, this is just a clarification of the roles and expectations of the Director of Programming.

Debate

  1. This bill seems redundant.
    1. This bill clarifies that the Director of Programming does not sit on the Executive Board.
    2. It must be taken into account what is in the Constitution, which says that the Director of Programming is not on the Executive Board, not what other students or members of VSG say regarding the position.
    3. President Manard: Clarification – We do a significant amount of residential programming, which requires another individual other than an Executive Board member to direct these programming efforts.

v  Alumni Cookout from 11-3 this Friday before Rites of Spring.

v  Remember to do Programming Evaluations.

v  Sunday afternoon is the Commons Carnival.

v  Next Monday, April 23rd, is the Kissam Cookout, 11:30-1:30 pm.
