Each spring, the seven AcFee committees allocate nearly $1.7 million in activity fee funding to every eligible student organization. All student organizations are split into six subcategories: Arts, Cultural, Programming, Religious, Service, and two subcommittees for Special Interests. Make sure you are subscribed to VULeader to keep up with all the updates during the process.
AcFee Contingency Fund Information
Each year a portion of the AcFee budget is not allocated and is retained in the Contingency Fund. This fund is designed to support student groups that can demonstrate the need for funding in addition to what they were given during the normal AcFee allocation. The fund is strictly for organizaitons that have experienced unforeseen circumstances. Due to fund limitations and the number of applications received, we cannot guarantee the ability to allocate the full amount of your request.
Reasons to apply to the Contingency Fund:
- A significant new event for which funding was not requested is being pursued
- An organization was formed after the normal allocation period
- Unforeseen expenses make significant events impossible without additional funding
- Other funding shortfalls to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
Evaluation of Contingency Fund Applications
Contingency Fund applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. While applications are accepted continually, it is important to remember that applications must be evaluated by the appropriate individuals before a decision can be made. A good rule of thumb is to provide at least 10 days for this process, but applications should be submitted as soon as additional funding is seen to be necessary.
AcFee Committee Chairs are chosen at the end of October. Prior to this point, applications are reviewed by the AcFee Chair, the Student Body President, the Student Body Vice President, and the Director of Student Governance and Organizations. Once AcFee Committee Chairs are chosen, these individuals also vote on Contingency Fund allocations. Allocations are only made when a consensus agreement is reached by all voting members.
The due date for the first draft of the application will be determined in January. Please note that applications will be turned in on the AcFee AnchorLink page this year. If you have any questions at all, please email AcFee Chair Joey Starnes at Vanderbilt.AcFee@gmail.com
All events using AcFee funding must track attendance on Anchor Link.
