Community Service

The Community Service committee coordinates Community Service Outreach Days before Homecoming and Rites of Spring, Angel Tree, and Drive for Five. They maintain communication with community service groups and work to develop programs that promote awareness of service opportunities.

The Campus Services committee will play an integral role in addressing issues regarding dining and facilities at Vanderbilt. This includes issues pertaining campus services provided in Sarratt, the Student Life Center, the Recreational Center, Rand, Varsity Markets, the Bookstore, and the Card Office. They will also be in charge of collaborating with an environmental representative to address environmental concerns on campus. There are seven divisions to Campus Services:
1)Dining Facilities; included in this are:
i. Rand
ii. Stonehedge
iii. Pub
iv. Commons
v. Common grounds
vi. Taste of Nashville
vii. The Divinity School Dining Café
viii. School Café’s; Blair school Café, Engineering School Café, etc.
2) Munchie Marts
3) Card Office
4) Bookstore
5) Mail Room
6) Building Amenities, which includes:
i.Services students would like to see within buildings around
campus (i.e. I would like to have vending machine here, a
projector here, I would like the hours of operation changed,
etc.)
7) Environmental Affairs
i. In close contact with SPEAR.

The Athletic Affairs committee works with groups such as Memorial Maniacs, Vandy Fanatics, and Hawkin’s Heroes to promote school spirit and encourage student attendance at athletic events. They are responsible for overseeing and promoting the Student Tailgate Area as well as serving as the primary liaison to the University’s Athletic Stakeholders Committee to address student athletic concerns and ideas.

The Security Committee serves as liaison to the Vanderbilt University Police Department (VUPD) to evaluate and improve security measures on campus, such as Vandy Vans and public lighting. They serve as the liaison to the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center to promote education with regards to women’s safety on campus.

The Organizational Relations committee serves as the bridge between VSG and the representative councils on campus - Pan-Hellenic, IFC, NPHC, Vanderbilt Programming Board, Multicultural Council, Interfaith Council, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and VUcept. The co-chairs are responsible for facilitating meetings with representatives of these organizations and maintaining awareness of different issues that are brought up throughout the course of the year. They are actively engaged in issues that affect student organizations and voice those concerns to the VSG Executive Board. They also strive to encourage discussion and collaboration among VSG and these organizations.
