Getting Involved in VSG

VSG has a wide variety of ways to get involved in student government, even as a freshman.

Freshmen can:

1. Run for House President. As a House President, you will chair your house’s council and implement fun and interesting residential programming. You will also sit as a voting member of VSG’s House, which will give you the opportunity to write, debate, and vote on resolutions and issues facing the Vanderbilt Student Body. For more information, contact Speaker of the House Reid Simon or Attorney General Andrew Gossett (reid.a.simon@vanderbilt.edu or andrew.m.gossett@vanderbilt.edu). When: Fall Semester

2. Apply for Freshmen Leaders Program. The Freshmen Leaders program is VSG’s leadership development program. Members will learn to implement fun Vanderbilt events, meet student body leaders, attend VSG Senate and House meetings, and grow as Vanderbilt leaders. For more information, contact VSG’s Director of First-Year Relations, Tina Herald (christina.m.herald@vanderbilt.edu). When: Fall Semester

3. Run for Academic Council Representative. The School Councils serve as the liaison between a school’s students and its administration. Councils focus on a school’s academic policies as well as host school-specific events and activities. For more information, please contact your school’s council president, Speaker of the Senate Jared Anderson (j.anderson@vanderbilt.edu), or Attorney General Andrew Gossett (andrew.m.gossett@vanderbilt.edu). When: Fall Semester
