One of the responsibilities of the office of Executive Vice President is to oversee each of the seven VSG committees.

Organizational Relations Committee

The Organizational Relations Committee serves as the bridge between Vanderbilt Student Government and the representative councils on campus: Pan-Hellenic, IFC, NPHC, Vanderbilt Programming Board, Multicultural Council, Interfaith Council, Vanderbilt Performing Arts Council, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and VUcept. It works to encourage discussion and collaboration between Vanderbilt Student Government and these umbrella organizations. The Organizational Relations Committee also promotes and realizes multi-organizational policy initiatives, academic endeavors, cross-campus collaborations, and Co-Sponsorships of the Month. Finally, the Organizational Relations Committee works to fund student organizations through the allocation of student activity fees using the AcFee application process.

Campus Services Committee

The Campus Services committee plays an integral role in addressing student needs by working with Vanderbilt Dining, Mail Services, the Bookstore, the Commodore Card Office, Plant Operations, Housing & Facilities, and Business Services. The committee works extensively with the Vanderbilt Dining Program working to bring a student voice to all its’ various aspects. It also addresses issues related to student facilities and building amenities particularly in Sarratt, the Student Life Center, and the Commons Center, as well as including capital improvements to residential buildings.

Community Service

The Community Service Committee works to link the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities through community service projects and programs that promote awareness of service opportunities. The Committee unites the Vanderbilt student body for Community Service Outreach Days during Homecoming and Rites of Spring, directs the Angel Tree program during the winter holidays, and runs various food drives. The Committee communicates with the Vanderbilt Office of Active Citizenship and Service and will develop a community service council to recognize the ideas and concerns of other community service organizations.

Environmental Affairs

The Environmental Affairs Committee is Vanderbilt Student Government’s voice in the campus-wide effort to facilitate environmental awareness and sustainability. In furthering the message of the Think Gold Act Green Coalition, the Committee serves as a liaison to the various environmental groups on campus and works with these organizations to develop, coordinate, and promote recycling and energy/resource conservation on campus. It also strives to develop unique, cost-effective initiatives for lessening Vanderbilt’s use of resources, invigorates the student body to be more environmentally friendly, and encourages the university to take a leadership role in the global battle against climate change.

Security Committee

The Security Committee promotes the safety and well-being of the student body by serving as the link between Vanderbilt Student Government and organizations such as the Vanderbilt University Police Department and the Office of Traffic and Parking. The Committee works to maintain and improve the Vandy Van system, discusses traffic and parking issues, and endeavors to create innovative strategies for keeping students safe.

Student Services and Technology Committee

The Student Services and Technology Committee works to maintain, improve, and develop helpful services for general use by the student body. The Committee deals with services such as Airport Shuttles, Commodore Express, and the new online marketplace available at insidevandy.com. It also works closely with Vanderbilt Information and Technology Services to provide students with the most efficient and advanced communication, information, and technology resources.

Athletics Committee

The Athletics Committee deals with a wide array of student needs relating to Vanderbilt Athletics. During the fall, the committee takes a primary role in organizing the programming of Memorial Madness right before the kickoff of basketball season. The Committee works in close contact with numerous student organizations such as Vandy Fanatic, Memorial Maniacs and Hawkins’ Heroes. It also represents student interests on the University’s Athletic Stakeholders’ Committee. The Athletics Committee organizes a student tailgating lot, provides programming to increase turnout for Athletics, and works to improve equipment at the Recreation Cente
