2008 – Aqueelah Ellzey

VSS Scholar - Aqueelah Ellzey

VSS Scholar - Aqueelah Ellzey

Aqueelah came superbly recommended from a variety of well-chosen references, and has shown real leadership throughout her high school career. During her time at Pearl-Cohn, Aqueelah founded the Forensics Team, was Chief Editor of the school newspaper, and President of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. Her English teacher describes her as “mature for her years” and that she “handles herself with poise and confidence.” In addition, she found time to work numerous jobs—sometimes two at once. Most recently she has waitressed at Demos’ Steak Spaghetti Restaurant and worked at the Pearl-Cohn Child Development Center. These are just a few of the many activities and distinctions she has had during her high school career. Aqueelah will be attending the University of Memphis in the fall with a concentration in criminal justice.
