VSS Members Give Out Cookies on Rand Wall

Fundraiser raises over $100, falls short of past times

NASHVILLE. TN — October 18, 2007 — For three days from October 16-18, VSS members manned Rand Wall to solicit donations and raise awareness about VSS. The fund raiser raised $112.76 for the scholarship fund and organizational expenses. This was the second time the organization has put on the small fundraiser, with the last time being in December 2006. That initial time brought in $274.14.

As Adam Banks explained, the reason that this semester’s Cookie for a Dollar fundraiser fell short of the last was “because last time it was so cold and we were the only ones out there.” There was also more competition, Carmen Mims said—free cookies just two tables down.

Despite this, VSS will be back on Rand Wall handing out cookies in January from the 15th to the 17th, and the direction “will be more to recruit members for the new semester”, said President Rob Whiting. Noting that members will be braving the cold weather, Chris Noel said, “I have high expectations, we’ll get the sympathy dollar then.” Everyone is very optimistic, as Courtney Bodenstab said, “everybody loves kids and cookies,” so please come out and support.
